Bonsai Blog
| VANCOUVER ISLAND BONSAI CLUB |
This is a blog directed at informing our members of what is being done by bonsai artists today. All activities mentioned will be posted within a week of the activity being performed. We feel that communicating what local artists are doing right now captures some small but valuable part of the master/apprentice aspect of bonsai found in Japan - knowing what other artists do with their trees. Reading books is great, and owing a tree is the ultimate bonsai learning experience. However, being aware of what other tree owners are doing enriches all of our experiences. I encourage all of the Victoria Club readers to send in comments of their own (about 250 words). Also, I encourage every reader to comment on the daily/weekly posts. We want to know what you do - why the weather is right; why that branch had to go/stay; where you got your stuff; how much you pinch; when the buds broke, and why that one broke last; how you felt when you knocked your plant off the bench; how much glue does it take to stick the pot back together; how long you left the wire on the yew; When you first said "I love yew" out loud; how tall your field grown tree grew; when you fertilize; etc... |
To post your own activities, e-mail your post to the club via the link below. To comment, one can e-mail the club or comment directly on a post through the blog (click "comments"). All e-mails and comments belong to the club and are subject to editing. Not all comments or posts will end up on the site due to space constraints. E-mail us - |
